Established in 1999, the practice is a multi-disciplinary group of Neurosurgical and Orthopedic spine
specialists, taking the advantage of the different approaches of two specialties.
The spine conditions we manage include degenerative, trauma, infection, tumor,
inflammatory and deformity - adult and pediatric. Our comprehensive spine expertise includes extensive adult spine revisions, pediatric scoliosis reconstruction, minimally invasive percutaneous surgery and artificial disc replacement.
Minimally invasive percutaneous surgery includes percutaneous fusion, diskectomy,
laminectomy, vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. The minimally invasive technique
employs the use of endoscopes to minimize tissue retraction and thus, minimizing
the postoperative muscle spasms, pain and scarring. Patients typically have
a much faster functional recovery. The artificial disc replacement employs a mini-laparotomy approach and had shown a faster recovery than traditional open fusion.
We
are an expanding group with a high volume spine practice of over
1600 spine cases per year. Growth of the surrounding area has also led to the
addition of satellite clinic in Novi Providence Park, Oakwood Dearborn Medical Office Building, Botsford Professional building and Macomb Neuroscience institute. Apart from surgical and
clinical excellence, we pursue evidence-based practice, with a commitment to
patient education, outcome research, and customer satisfaction. Our practice is one of the study sites for an FDA national multicenter trial for artificial disc replacement. Our practice is also one of the study sites for an FDA multicenter trial for nuclear replacement study.
Our practice
believes that surgery is the last resort for the treatment of spinal disorders.
This is especially true with spinal fusion, which is an undertaking only after
careful consideration. We believe in working with the patient’s preference,
lifestyle and the involvement of the family in the decision making process.
